Location: Ram Room
Feldenkrais Awareness through Movement

Your habits of movement may be preventing you from being all that you can be. The Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education is a moving meditation that uses gentle movement and directed attention to enhance your life. Without knowing how it is that you move, you can’t change the habit that is preventing you from attaining ease and comfort. According to founder Moshe Feldenkrais, “If you don’t know what you are doing, you can’t do what you want.” The class consists of simple, guided movements that seem to miraculously change the way you feel and sense your body. As you do them, you will learn how to trust your body to give you what you need. The Feldenkrais Method® promises to “make the impossible, possible; the possible, easy; and the easy, elegant.”

Betsy Ingalls has been doing Feldenkrais since she was first introduced to it at the Golden Door in the 1970s. She has been a guest speaker at Rancho La Puerta for 11 years, and has been teaching and speaking on various topics for over 30 years.  After 26 years as a financial consultant, helping people get the most out of their money, Betsy is now a guild certified Feldenkrais® practitioner who helps people get the most out of their bodies. Although money and movement may not appear to be related, they are! The older we get, the more we want an abundance of both. Betsy also teaches adult education classes in Santa Barbara, CA. All her classes are aimed at helping people unlock their habits to gain a greater sense of self.
